How to take care of yourself between massages

Massage therapy helps to nourish your muscles, relax tight areas, and provide pain relief. In between massage sessions, there are ways that you can care for your muscles and de-stress your body. This section includes a few recommendations.

Stress-Relief

  • Herbal body tea soaks (if your muscles are sore I suggest a sea salt bath or Athlete's Muscle Soak" toxins are pulled out of your body through your skin) can relax your entire body, and the warm water helps relax your muscles.

You can also take a bubble bath, listen to music, or light a favorite fragrant candle. Remember to take care of *you*.

Pain Relief

Whether it is a touch of soreness the day after a deep tissue massage, sore muscles & joints after a work out, or arthritis, a two favorites of mine are SOMBRA (camphor and menthol) and CRYODERM which cool away the pain.

  • For inflammation of arthritis, fibromyalgia, scars, and muscle injuries I recommend emu oil. For fibromyalgia and scars I recommend the pure form and for arthritis and muscle uses, either the pure or pain relieving forms can be used. Emu oil carries anti-inflammatory properties deep across the skin much more than other oils.

Muscle Maintenance & Tension Release

Stretching is a good way to keep your muscles loose and gain flexibility. Be sure that you know what you are doing when you are stretching so that you do not injure yourself. You might want to consult a medical professional if you need assistance.
