Common Questions About Massage Therapy

What will a massage feel like?

A light oil, lotion, or cream may be applied to the areas of your body being worked. This allows the therapist's hands to move over your skin with less friction --to make the experience more comfortable. If you have skin allergies, be sure to mention this to the therapist so an appropriate oil/lotion will be used to fit your needs.

Will I have to take off my clothes?

Everyone has their own comfort level. This is your massage & we want you to be relaxed, not uncomfortable. We can massage through clothing, but the optimal massage would involve removal of upper undergarments. You will be draped under a sheet at all times. Only these area(s) will be exposed at a given time.

In addition, some forms of bodywork, such as Orthobionomy, do not require the removal of clothing.

What will I feel like after a massage?

You may feel limp and relaxed, or you could feel energized after a massage. Everyone is different. Be careful getting up from the table after your session. You may feel a little lightheaded.

If you receive a deep tissue massage, you may feel a little discomfort the next day. The feeling may be similar to that you get after gardening or working out for a long time.
